Cosmetic Surgery and Plastic Surgery - A Comparison

The word cosmetic is derived from the Greek word and the original word is “kosmesis” means to adorn. The word Plastic is derived from the Greek word “Plastikos” that means to reshape or to recast. The difference between the two words is sufficient to highlight the difference between these two processes of surgery.

Cosmetic surgery is an option can be availed even without any particular medical problem. For example a person can take the option in order to make a better look wise appearance in order to enhance the beauty. It can be applied on nose, ear, and facial make over, eyes, and even situationally it is done in the cases of dentistry. Plastic surgery is also called the surgery of reconstruction hence the objective of this kind of surgery is not to improve the basic appearance of a person but to provide the person with a better access to healthy medically correct life style. For example, the elimination of malignant cell, removal of developmental anomalies since birth, some problem of trauma or any kind of mutilating disease to gain the psychological and physical comfort of living can be implemented by Plastic surgery. Mastectomy is another form of surgery that needs both cosmetic and plastic surgery. It is rightly said cosmetic surgery is for better life and plastic surgery is for the dire need to live.
